Inclusive, Accessible, Creative

We welcome students from any year, major, experience level, and background. We want to help you tell your story, whether that be through photographs, podcasts, or film -- all you need to bring are your ideas and passion!

Follow us online and join our email list to stay up-to-date on our events, meetings, and workshops!

  • When and where are meetings?
We are resuming in-person meetings so join us in Kaplan 169 on Thursdays at 7:30pm! We look forward to seeing you!
  • Do I need to apply to join FPS?
Nope! We welcome all UCLA students from any major, year, or experience level. All you need to do is attend our weekly meetings (Thursdays at 7:30 in Kinsey Hall Room 1220B) and/or join our mailing list. Attending our meetings or receiving our emails will provide you with all the information needed to join our quarterly productions, photoshoots, media projects, etc. Our website also has links to join our GroupMe’s where you can chat with other FPS members.
  • Do I need to pay a fee to join FPS?
Nope! FPS is free to join for all UCLA students.
  • What experience do I need to join FPS?
All UCLA students regardless of experience level are welcome to join! Many of our members (and E-board Directors) joined without having any prior set or camera experience. There are many opportunities to learn more about filmmaking and photography when you work on an FPS production. We also host many workshops throughout the year teaching members any and all necessary skills to work on productions.
  • How often does FPS produce content?
Each quarter, FPS produces 3 short films, each around 10 minutes in length. We also organize 2 photoshoots per quarter -- one studio shoot and one campus shoot. There are a variety of positions available to members who wish to participate in either the quarterly production or photoshoots. From modeling to sound design, there are so many ways to get involved in our work!
  • How can I join an FPS production?
At the beginning of each quarter, FPS will send out a Google Form which members can fill out to let us know what positions they’re interested in taking on. E-board directors will then assign members who filled out the Google Form to a production. Members who are interested in acting or modeling will have to audition through the typical casting process to join a production. If you did not receive the Google Form, it will be linked in our Linktree
  • How can I submit a script to make into a quarterly production?
All of our quarterly productions have been written and submitted by student writers! If you would like to see your ideas made into reality, submit your work when we put a call for submissions. We put out calls towards the beginning of the quarter -- which can be found on our Instagram and through our mailing list -- and our E-board directors choose 3 scripts to produce into short films. Traditionally, the writers of the selected scripts direct the production, but we allow the writers to appoint someone else to direct if they would like. Scripts can be written by individuals or in teams.
  • How can I receive feedback on my script?
If you feel like your script needs some external input, you can submit your work to our Film Director at films@fps-productions.com! Our Film Director will get back to you within a few weeks to provide either written feedback or to set up a face-to-face meeting. Or if you’d prefer peer feedback, our community is full of student writers who would be more than willing to looking over your work. You can find student writers in our general GroupMe or in our Writers’ Circle.
  • Can I join FPS if I’m not a UCLA student?
Only UCLA students can join FPS.
  • I’m an actor looking to audition for a role posted by FPS -- what do I need to do?
All casting information will be posted on either LA Casting, Backstage, or both. All auditions and tapes must be sent according to the instructions from the post on LA Casting and/or Backstage. Auditions and tapes sent through this website will not be considered. Typically, we ask actors to send us a headshot and a short clip of them reading the attached sides, but the requirements vary with each project. For any additional questions regarding casting, please contact the email included in the casting call.
  • I am a representative of a short film competition -- how can I get in touch?
For any invitations or inquiries, please contact hello@fps-productions.com.
  • I have a question that I don’t see here -- who can I contact?
    Please email hello@fps-productions.com!
